We had so much fun making these
little characters as a family. The papier mache was so gooey and fun to
work with! Even Dad got in on the action.
The paste recipe
Ingredients:
*1/2 cup flour
*4 cups water-divided
*3 Tablespoons sugar
Bring
2 cups of water to a boil. In a bowl, combine flour with 2 cups cold
water. Add this mixture to the boiling water and bring to a boil again.
Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Let cool.
Other materials:
paper strips
small balloons
Here was our process:
The
papier mache needed to dry overnight. After the glue was completely
dry, we popped the balloons and added the details. I bought the googly
eyes at a craft store and used semi-circles for the fins. I made the
circles by tracing the top of a drinking glass onto the paper.
I
punched a hole in the dorsal fin so we could hang the fish in the girls
bedroom. Don't you think every kid should have colorful fishies flying
next to their bed?
